Isolde hopes for a German success in the 2006 FULDA Challenge 27th January 2006 Before long, Isolde Holderied will travel to Canada’s Yukon Territory for the 2006 FULDA Challenge, which will be contested by eight national teams and two celebrity squads. In this year’s FULDA Challenge, Isolde will turn her special attention to the two German teams. Martin Hollerbach and Heike Möller will contest the arctic multi-discipline competition for the Lowa Team. The 37-year old carpenter comes from Schongau, just a few kilometres from Isolde’s hometown, Bad Bayersoien. Hollerbach has what it takes to successfully complete the event: “Martin is a fantastic sportsman,” says Isolde, “With mountain biking representing his particular strength. But he’s also competitive when it comes to racing skidoos and cars and has some snow experience under his belt: After all, he won the 2000 German Winter Triathlon Championship.” The second German squad is formed by Christine Schleich and Stefan Metter-Kaller, with Christine also being based in Isolde’s home region, in Peiting. The banker is, a member of the German ski mountaineering national team and is going to meet the challenge in the Toyota Team. “I would be delighted should a German team win this year,” Isolde reveals. Furthermore, there are several prominent sportsmen going to contest the 2006 FULDA Challenge: Aces such as eight-time Olympic Canoe Gold Medallist Birgit Fischer, former boxing World Champion Sven Ottke or Olympic Long-Jump Gold Medallist Heike Drechsler. And there is passionate triathlete Joey Kelly who attended last year’s FULDA Challenge. |
