Successful preparation workshop for the Yaris Cup 4th April 2006 This weekend, a workshop attuned the Toyota Yaris Cup drivers to the 2006 season. Isolde Holdried accompanied the young guns and supported them with tips and tricks. During the past days, the young drivers learned a lot that is going to help them to be successful in the forthcoming season. The first stop of the four-day programme for the young talents was Dölzig. There, Isolde and her colleagues provided them with the necessary basic knowledge for a successful racing driver career. Quite obviously, all the participants had been really attentive as Isolde was truly surprised by the newcomers’ good appearance during their first press commitment at the AMI fair in Leipzig. “It was very enjoyable,” she said. “They were able to right away make good use of what they had learned.” The second part of the preparation was the one the participants had been particularly looking forward to: the day of testing at Oschersleben. Here, the young guns had to cope with changeable weather conditions. Conditions that turned out to be positive for the Toyota Yaris Cup drivers as it offered them the chance of testing on both dry weather tyres and wets. This test was a particular important experience for the young racing drivers as it offered them the opportunity to adapt to the Toyota Yaris and to prepare for the first round of the season that will be also held at Oschersleben. At the end of the four days, all the attendees were enthusiastic, with the learning effects and the chance of getting to know each other being praised in particular. And the grid, consisting of 13 rookies and 18 ‘old hands’ also had some advantage. “You mustn’t forget that the youngest drivers are just 16 years old,” said Isolde. “Therefore, the young guns can benefit from their more experienced colleagues.” This year, there will even be an even more international Toyota Yaris Cup grid: five Dutch competitors and three drivers from Switzerland are also going to contest the makes cup. |
